Romanian Orthodox Baptism in Ridgewood, Queens
I shoot a lot of baptisms around NYC, and every one is so unique and lovely! The Sazbo family was celebrating the christening of their infant daughter at the beautiful Descent of The Holy Spirit Romanian Orthodox Church in Ridgewood, Queens. Attended by godparents and extended family and friends, this ceremony was unique in that the entire baby is completely immersed in a tub of holy water as opposed to being sprinkled on the forehead. A much longer and more intricate ritual than most other flavors of Christianity, I was so excited to be able to capture this baptism beginning to end, and then taking posed photos of the family afterwards.
