Pentacostal Baby Blessing Ceremony + Family Brunch (Brooklyn, NYC)
NYC is home to so many different religions, faiths, and spiritual paths. I am so lucky to be able to not just witness them, but also to capture these special moments for people from a variety of backgrounds and traditions. Beautiful and moving rituals, ceremonies, and practices are some of my favorite things to shoot. This particular one took place at the Temple of Restoration, a pentacostal Christian ministry church, followed by brunch at Yayo’s.
(An interesting piece of info about this particular ceremony is that this denomination doesn’t ‘officially’ baptize the baby at this point in time, but instead gives them a blessing. They believe that the baptism should be undertaken only by those who have reached a consenting age, who have both the understanding of what it entails and an earnest desire to move forward in their faith in this way.)
Here are some of my favorite shots from this shoot (click/tap to view full-size and un-cropped):
All images in this blog post were shot on a Nikon D750, using an AF-S Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens and a 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, all individually post-processed in Adobe Lightroom.
