Silkscreen Artwork Print Photography - Brooklyn, NYC
Photographing artwork is always a unique challenge. Besides real estate, this is the only other genre in which lens curvature/distortion really becomes visible and apparent (ie: concave or convex lines where they should be perfectly straight). Other super important aspects are color accuracy, and a small aperture to ensure that focus is scattered all over the entire image. Most of the straightening magic is done in post with ‘upright transformations’ in Lightroom, and occasionally ‘warping’ in Photoshop. One of the things I run into a lot with artwork is that when it comes to capturing it, photography is fine for most applications (web or small print use); but if you are looking to have your artwork pieces faithfully replicated for large-format reproductions that you intend to sell, it’s best to have them scanned by professional art archivists.
These images are hand-made silkscreen prints by local artist, Sean Greathead for his online portfolio, and were taken in my private studio.
That being said, here are a few examples of the pieces I captured during this shoot (click to view uncropped):

All images in this blog post were shot on a Nikon D750, using an AF-S Nikkor 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 lens, and individually post-processed in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
